GONV | Gun Owners of Nevada

Gun Owners of Nevada is a Nevada non-profit corporation and is a non-partisan organization.

GONV consists of a volunteer staff and is not legally affiliated with any other organization, yet we are allied with several other statewide groups throughout the US. Please be sure to visit our "links" page under State Wide Groups. GONV will focus on the city, county and state levels, similar to the way the National Association for Gun Rights and Gun Owners of America operate on the national level.

What differentiates GONV from national organizations such as the NRA, for example, is that we are "grass roots" gun lobby for the citizenry. We are not an institution. An institution may be large and very influential, but an institution can also become another bureaucracy, slow and unresponsive to all issues great and small concerning our Second Amendment Right. From a grass roots level, GONV can react quickly and affirmatively to legislative threats, in the manner and proficiency of the Minutemen of Olde. Also, GONV does not do any institutional training with firearms. We leave the training to qualified instructors so that GONV may focus on one aspect -- maintain vigilance for laws that will either strengthen or diminish our Second Amendment Right. We provide an "extra layer" of legal security in the event our bigger brothers may miss a small but important statute, county regulation, or city ordinance passing for local government approval. GONV is that safety net in case others fall. With your help, the help of family, friends and neighbors, we are the last line of defense.

As a "single issue" organization, GONV seeks to prevent any further encroachment upon the rights of law abiding citizens to own, possess and carry personal defense weapons. Our main goal is to implement “Vermont Style Carry” within the state of Nevada. According to national statistics, violent crime in all the 50 states of our Union have always been the lowest in the states of Alaska and Vermont.

For a prime example of an affirmative gun organization GONV models itself after, see Oregon Firearms Federation. This group has had tremendous success in Oregon, and we at GONV very much hope to replicate that achievement and excellence here in the Silver State with gonv.org

GONV is committed to law-abiding, tax-paying gun owners and not to politicians. GONV will sit down with anyone, but GONV is not authorized to negotiate away anyone's rights.

When it comes to our gun rights, GONV will not Compromise.
